At The Grove you can live life as independently as you like knowing that if your circumstances change there will be care on hand. From small day-to-day tasks such as shopping, cleaning or transport, to more complex assistance, there’s a range of care services available should you ever need them.
The Grove has partnered with the Selwyn Foundation to offer our residents the assurance of onsite care services, which can be accessed as you need them.
To start with, it might just be help with some of the small day to day tasks such as shopping or transport, but, in the event that you develop health issues that affect your ability to live independently, a comprehensive range of health services will also be available.
It means that when you move into the Grove Orewa, you can stay in your home as long as possible.
Introducing the Selwyn Foundation
In thinking about best- practice care services for our residents, we elected to partner with one of the leading operators in the aged-care sector.
The Selwyn Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to serving older people and their families. They established one of New Zealand’s first retirement villages, Selwyn Village in Pt Chevalier in 1954, and since then have expanded the number of villages throughout Auckland and beyond.
As well as its own villages The Selwyn Foundation has a range of health and well-being services for older people living in the community. These are a combination of technology-based monitoring and home-visit services overseen by their extensive clinical governance team and principals.
Our residents and their families can find comfort in the knowledge that the care services and support offered at The Grove Orewa are at the forefront of modern aged-care thinking and based around the concept of ageing in place.
Access & Mobility
All access ways in the village, whether they are inside the apartments or within the common areas and gardens have been designed with future mobility needs in mind. You can move through the village and your apartment without having to navigate stairs or level changes. All doorways are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. All showers have a wide unrestricted entry and can be converted for disabled access. All kitchens can be modified for use by those in wheelchairs. Of course, you would never know unless we told you.
Selwyn Care Coordinator
The Selwyn Care Coordinator is your (or your family’s) first port of call if your health situation changes. Often the hardest thing to do is work out what you need, who can provide it, and if you are entitled to funding or not. Instead of phoning multiple different organisations you can now phone our Care Coordinator. They’ll work closely with The Grove team to provide advice and help to set up a specific plan of care services for you.
